Following the introduction of the Approved Code of Practice under the Health and Safety at Work Act for the Workplace it became illegal for people to work above 2m without protection from falling. The guidelines suggested that the best solutions were:

1) Engineer out the risk
2) Control by Procedure
3) Provide operators with correct PPE

While these principles remained constant, in April 2005 the Work at Height Regulations No.735 were introduced which removed the 2m rule. This legislation introduces the requirement for risk assessment, planning and inspection of equipment. Detailed requirements are given for many types of equipment including ladders. All work at any height above or below ground level is covered by this legislation.

Lawnshall Services was established in 1998 to assist all types of Industry both on and offshore to meet the challenges of the legislation. The company supply a full range of fall arrest devices (inertia reels), descent controllers (evacuation devices) harnesses and specifically designed and installed fall protection safety systems.

The need to maintain and certify the equipment (annually) is also covered but at fixed agreed rates in order to give cost control. Our service personnel are fully trained by various manufacturers of the equipment.
